Swan Family 2009 Recap

What an incredible year we have had as a family! It is hard to believe we are about to be in the year 2010! We hope the holiday season finds you all in a wonderful place with family and friends. We wanted to share this blog as a way to help you get caught up on what has been going with the Swan Family! It would be a dream to keep this updated and going throughout the year, but we make no promises. You’ll understand why shortly!

Ian continues to work for Inland Power and Light and still enjoys working with all the wonderful people there. In January, he became the Supervisor of Member Services and in September the entire facility moved from downtown Spokane out to Four Lakes. It makes for a longer commute, but the building is beautiful.

Christy is still working at Summit School, a choice school, in Central Valley School District. After teaching first and second grade for five years, it seemed like a change was due. In September she made a career change and left the classroom all together. Still working with the teachers at Summit, Christy now is the school’s instructional guide. This position allows for Christy to help teachers understand and teach in the Expeditionary Learning model. It has been a huge change!

Shane continues to grow and develop into a little boy! He turned 2 on August 22 up at Priest Lake with his Nana, Papa, Gran, Papa Hunt and all his Aunties, Uncles, and cousins. In July, he also got to take his first fishing trip to Ketchikan, Alaska with Gran and Papa Hunt (Swan). He was a natural fisherman and loved being out on the boat and down at the dock. He is talking up a storm and getting into all sorts of trouble!

In July, we found out that we are expecting our second little Swan, due March 23. Shane was pretty well set on the fact that it was a baby sister, but in October we found out that a baby brother is in fact what he is getting. This will be Christy’s parents’ fifth grandson and Ian’s parents’ second. We anxiously await his arrival and can’t wait to share him with you all!

As you can see, we have been busy as a family. We look forward to 2010 and all the fun things it will bring. We wish you all the best and hope to keep in touch!
